Selection criteria

From the date of this brochure until April 30th, 2022, any of the 40 transfusion centers already authorized may express its intention to partnership in order to enter the evaluation and selection procedure, after which we will select the first 10 of them with which we open and operate the first 10 plasmapheresis centers, in which we collect plasma for fractionation, from Romanian donors.

The Letter of Intent regarding the partnership with the “Donam Plasma” Association can be initiated by the transfusion center, as partner, or by one of the local sponsors, respectively the institution representing the local community (County Council, City Hall, County Hospital).

The main criteria on the basis of which we will select the transfusion centers are:

  • Criteria for assessing donor mobilization capacity. Thus, the transfusion centers that collected convalescent plasma in the period of 2020-2021 will be evaluated according to the number of doses of convalescent plasma per capita. The centers will also be evaluated according to the collection of blood and other blood components (doses/capita).
  • Criteria that evaluate the mobilization of the local community, respectively local authorities, business community, civic organizations.
  • Criteria that evaluate the local infrastructure for collecting, testing, processing and storing blood components, as well as those that evaluate the staff of the transfusion centers are less relevant, given that, unfortunately, none of the transfusion centers in Romania comply European requirements and therefore there are no European certifications.

The form “Letter of Intent regarding the Partnership with the Donam Plasma Association” will be filled in by the applicants so as to include the relevant information for the evaluation.

Both this form and the score grid will be published on the website of the “Donam Plasma” Association, so that they will be known by all those concerned.

The evaluation and the final ranking will be established after consulting all the institutional partners, respectively the Ministry of Health, the National Institute of Transfusion Hematology, the medical associations and the patients’ associations.
